Darlene M. Schmidt, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Darlene was born on November 4, 1937 to Henry and Mary (Joosten) Gloudemans in Little Chute. On February 28, 1969 she was united in marriage to Lester Schmidt. She liked working outside in her big yard and had beautiful flowers, even raising pumpkins and other produce and selling them. Darlene also enjoyed spending time at the cottage on Lake Winneconne where many wonderful memories were made. She also enjoyed fishing at the cottage as well. Darlene liked her Friday fish fries at the Heiting Place Supper Club with family and friends. She liked doing scratch off lottery tickets with her sisters always trying to win big. In her later years she would visit her daughter’s day care and became Grandma to many little kids. Darlene was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.

Darlene is survived by her children; Bob (Diane) Halverson, Jim (Sharie) Halverson and Kelly (Brian) Bowers, 8 grandchildren; Jenny (Jason) Freese, Missy (Jason) Jolly, Austin (Kristine) Halverson, Blake Halverson, Cory (Kayla) Powell, Leah (Kevin ) Kamps, Brandon Bowers and Emily Bowers, great grandchildren; Sadie and Harper Freese, Arden and Ledger Kamps, Cade and Kyah Powell, brother Eugene (Pat) Gloudemans, sister Yvonne Gloudemans, sister-in-law Mary Gloudemans, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, and a brother Roger Gloudemans.

The funeral liturgy for Darlene will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
