- Irene Pollock, age 86, formerly of Birnamwood, town of Hutchins, died Thursday, September 28, 1989 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
She was born March 1, 1903 in the town of Hutchins, the daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Kortbein) Zilch.
On November 22, 1921 Irene was united in marriage to Roy E. Rickert. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1954. She then married L.T. Pollock on November 24, 1956 in the town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1967.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin (Betty) Rickert, Birnamwood and Harvey (Dorothy) Rickert, Bowler; two step-sons, David Pollock, Bowler and Leland Pollock, Florida; three step-daughters, Mable (Dorven) Thiex, Wanda (Arnie) Thiex, all of Wittenberg and Adeline (Reuben) Schneider, Two Rivers; two brothers, William Zilch, Wausau and Marvin Zilch, Grover City, CA; two sisters, Floretta (Otto) Mortenson, Iola and Evelyn (Lee) Pendleton, Lily, WI; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Irene was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Stark, three sons, Melvin, Louis and Alfred Rickert, one daughter, Betty, two brothers, Lloyd Zilch and Chester Zilch, one granddaughter, Penny Pollock, two step-sons, Max Rickert and Ralph Pollock and one step-daughter, Corabell Rickert.
Funeral services were held September 30, 1989 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon. The Rev. Gary Lodholz officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Mattoon.
