- Kenneth "Keener" Zemske, age 86 years, of Heafford Junction ( formerly of Clintonville ) passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
Kenneth John Zemske was born on October 4, 1924 in Clintonville to the late John and Martha (Block) Zemske. After graduating from UW River Falls Keener entered the U.S. Army and served in W.W.II from 1943 to 1945. He was united in marriage on December 22, 1948 to Geneva "Neva" Stoehr in Shawano. The couple lived in River Falls, Medford from 1953-1976, and Heafford Junction since 1976. For 23 years the couple owned and operated a hotel & tavern in Medford. His wife preceded him in death on October 29, 1991. Keener was a Life Member and active in the VFW Post 5729 in Medford. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards, especially smear & cribbage.
Survivors include three sisters-in-law: Eileen Zuleger of Black Creek, Valda Van Erem of Seymour, and Rose Ann Hayman of Appleton. He is further survived by one brother-in-law, Clarence Stoehr of Minneapolis, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Keener is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Neva, a brother, Arthur, and a sister, Dorothy.
The family wishes to especially thank Bob & Alice Froelich of Tomahawk. They also would like to thank the nurses & staff at Kindred Hearts Memory Care, Green Bay, for the wonderful care provided to Keener.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 12 Noon at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent via www.beil-didier.com. In lieu of flowers, please direct a memorial in Keener's memory to a charity of your own choice.
