- Richard de Wydevile, of Grafton, was constituted Sheriff of Northampton in the 35th year of the reign of Edward III, 1361, and Governor of the castle there, and again in two years after. In the 43rd of the same reign he was made Escheator of the Counties Northampton and Rurland, and the year ensuing was again Sheriff and Governor of Northampton Castle. He married Elizabeth, daughter and heir of Sir John Lyon of Warkworth, and dying circa 1378 left issue two sons, John and Thomas. (Kin of Mellcene Thurman Smith, page 796)
