- Ronald E. Wislinsky, 78, of Phillips, and formerly of Marshfield, died Friday evening, February 3, 2012, at his home in Phillips.
Ron was born on February 20, 1933, in Wild Rose, to Edward Wislinsky and Goldie (Williams) Wislinsky.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie A. Martinson on December 28, 1957, in Stevens Point. She passed away on February 19, 1997.
After graduating with a BA degree from Stevens Point Teacher's College (UW Stevens Point) and obtaining a Master's Degree from UW-Madison, he taught History and Physical Education at Marshfield High School (MHS) starting in 1958. In 1977, he became Athletic Director at MHS and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1991.
During his tenure at MHS, he also coached football and wrestling for several years. He was named Athletic Director of the year in 1989 by the WIAA.
Ron is survived by his children Michael (Nannette) Wislinsky of Superior, Colorado, Kathryn Hull of Marshfield, and Thomas (Connie) Wislinsky of Altoona; six grandchildren, Erik and Kyle Wislinsky, Angela (Andy) Wilcox-Hull, Brian Hull and Ben and Anna Wislinsky; and one great granddaughter, Alba Wilcox-Hull.
Besides his parents and wife Marjorie, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Wislinsky.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield with Rev. Peter Manickam officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
