Mrs. Elizabeth V. Kitz, wife of Frank Kitz, passed away at the residence, 161 Monroe avenue, this afternoon at 12:45 o'clock. She suffered a stroke of paralysis two years ago from which she never recovered, and another slight stroke Monday of this week made the end only a matter of a few days. She was conscious at noon today, recognizing the members of the family who were gathered at the bedside.
Elizabeth Victoris Kitz was born in Treves, Germany, September 16, 1832 and was therefore seventy-four years of age. She came to America in 1852. The family lived for a time in Toledo, Ohio, coming here in the early fifties. She was wedded to Mr. Kitz April 17, 1856. They celebrated their golden wedding here on their fiftieth anniversary last spring.
Surviving are the husband and eight children. Of these there are six sons, Henry, Martin M., Frank N., John, Theodore and Albert, all of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. W. C. Kimball of Oshkosh (note only seven children listed).
Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been completed. The remains will be at the residence of Henry Kitz, a son, 155 North Park avenue, until the time of the services, and they may be viewed there by friends after today. The funeral will be from the home of the son.
Mrs. Kitz was among the best known of the older German residents of the city. The announcement of her death will prove a sad shock to many friends who had known of her last illness.
