Ken was born January 12, 1922 in the Township of New Lyme near Sparta, WI to William and Gladys (Reitan) Stegemeyer.

He attended local schools and served his country in the US Army from 1941 to 1945, stationed in England, France, and Belgium.

Together they ran one of the first charter fishing businesses in Sheboygan on Lake Michigan from their boat, "The Orion" for twenty years, which was the highlight of their life. After retirement Ken and Eleanor wintered in Texas, where they enjoyed selling pecans and honey at a flea market in Brownsville on the weekends. Eleanor preceded him in death on July 8, 2006.
