    • ROCHESTER - Mrs. Mavis C. Doxtater, 84, passed away at Mount Carmel Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington on Sunday, September 21, 2003.

      She was born in Larchwood, Iowa on February 24, 1919, to Lewis and Anna (nee: Hoyme) Skattum. Following marriage, she lived in Sturgeon Bay, Tichigan, Waterford, and Rochester and had been a resident of Rochester since 1970. On February 3, 1944, in Sturgeon Bay, she was united in marriage to Vernon V. Doxtater, who preceded her in death on September 19, 1985.

      She spent her early life and graduated from grade and high school in Hills, Minn. She was a Homemaker and was employed as a Cook at Waterford Union High School from 1972 until 1982. She was a member of Norway Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild.

      Surviving are three daughters, Joan (George) Bernier of LaPalma, Calif., Lois (Gordon) Kummer of Milwaukee, and Kim (Ward) Janke of East Troy; three sons, Bruce Doxtater of Rochester, Dean Doxtater of Antioch, Ill., and Michael (Linda) Doxtater of Wind Lake; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Les Skattum of Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; and brothers and sisters.

      Funeral services will be held at Norway Lutheran Church in Wind Lake on Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Napton officiating. Burial will be in Norway Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 9:30 until 11 a.m.
