    • James Byron “Jim” Scotti, 99, of Pekin, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
      Born April 16, 1913, in Benld to Louis C. and Carrie G. Vandveer Scotti, he married Eileen Mary Cash on June 26, 1937, in Pekin. She died Dec. 31, 2003, in Pekin.
      He also was preceded in death by one son, Jim Scotti and one great-great-grandson, Aiden Steven Clark.
      Surviving are two sons, Dick (Sandy) Scotti and Steve Scotti; two daughters, Linda Greer and Valerie Conner; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Virginia Milford.
      Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
      He had worked for Caterpillar Inc., last working as a tool designer. He retired in 1975, after 42 years of service.
      Jim loved to bowl, work on cars and working with tools. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
      He helped start the Tazewell County Resource Center in Pekin, where he volunteered many hours. He received the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism there.
      His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father James Pankiewicz will officiate.
      Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
      Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
