      Geurts, Ruth Irene (Schaeuble)


      Ruth Irene (Schaeuble) Geurts, 90, Wrightstown, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at a local hospital. Ruth was born July 16, 1918, in Greenleaf, Wisconsin to Charles and Alma (Wierschke) Schaeuble and graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1936. She worked for Baumgartener's Dairy, the Adolph Pfeifer family, and Kaap's Restaurant. Ruth married Wilbur Geurts on April 26, 1941, at St.Willebrord's Catholic Church in Green Bay. They created a family dairy farm south of DePere. Ruth was a member of St. Paul's Parish, St. Paul's Christian Mothers, and the Ledgeville Women's Club. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, canning, baking, dancing, bowling, playing cards, embroidering, reading and fishing. Ruth graciously welcomed all visitors into her home; Family and visitors savored her cooking and baking. Ruth prided herself in recording the family's history through photography and storytelling.

      Ruth is survived by her children: Paul (Mary Jo) Geurts, Lois Trad, Glenn (Marlene) Geurts, Gloria (Mark) Froehle, Vicki Geurts, and Donna (Jimmer) Christensen. Grandchildren that survive Ruth are Steve (Laurie) Geurts, Monica (Andy) Hall, Cathy (Terry) Williams, Rita (Kevin) Steffensen, Gary (Marzena) Geurts, Elizabeth (Joe) Schulte, PJ (Krista) Geurts, Casey Geurts, Shalene Miller, Tom Trad, Jason (Lori) Froehle, Jeremy (Melissa) Froehle, Noah (Danielle) Geurts, Jordan (Kristen) Geurts, Jacob (Jenny) Geurts, Anna Geurts, Lucille Christensen, and Wilbur Christensen. Greatgrandchildren that survive Ruth are Jessica and Lindsay Geurts; Michael, Brooke Albers; Eric, and Brad Williams; Lillia, Alianne, Elyssa, and Joella Steffensen; Parker, Logan, and Jackson Shulte; Charlie Geurts, Jaelyn Geurts, and Emily Geurts, Kyle Miller, Kaitlyn, Grace, Garrett, and Ella Froehle; Cierra, Claire, Conner, Bret, Isaac, and Lillian Geurts. Ruth had one great-great grandchild, Caden Albers. Ruth is further survived by sisters Ilene Wendt and Marie Ayers and sister-in-laws Alice Schaeuble, Regina Schaeuble, Rose Watermolen and Evelyn Geurts,.

      Her husband of 65 years, Wilbur, preceded her in death on May 28, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Marlene (Mitzi), her son Tom, her great-granddaughter Juliette; her siblings and in-laws: Gordon Schaeuble, Evelyn and Harold Woldt, Edith and Joe Velicer, Elton (Pat) and Judy Schaeuble, Orville (Stub)Schaeuble, Hugo Wendt, Carlton (Nig) Schaeuble, Bill Ayers; and members of her husband's family: Leona and Gerald Gerrits, Florence and Carl Daul, Fred and Irene Geurts, George Geurts, Ella and Adrian Van Rossum, Don Watermolen, and Marian Geurts.

      Ruth's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Health Care Advantage, St. Vincent Hospital 4th and 9th floor staff, and Rennes Rehab for the care given to their mother.

      Friends and family may call Monday, June 29, 2009, at De Wane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main Street, Wrightstown, 920-532-4366, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. with Msgr.
