    • Tena, age 96, of Appleton, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Appleton Health Care Center. She was born August 10, 1915, in Hildreth, NB, daughter of the late Harm and Sophie (Decker) Quadhamer. She married John C. Tornow June 23, 1938, sharing 45 years together before his death April 7, 1983.

      Tena was a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1944 and was a teacher at Zion School for many years. She was a member of the Martha Circle Bible Study group, directed the Cherub Choir in the 1950's; was a member of the Senior Choir for over 50 years; Ladies Quilting group; was a faithful knitter of prayer shawls and baby sweater, caps and booties sets. She was one of the first residents of Zion Mutual Homes. She enjoyed worldwide traveling and spending time with family and friends.

      She is survived by 5 nieces: Mary (Norb) Morack, Hortonville; Virginia Anderson, MN; Dorothy Wallezand; Betty (John) Ellis, CA; Ruth Tornow, Milwaukee; very special friends: Gwen (Don) Schwandt, Appleton and Nancy Barr, Appleton and many other nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother and seven sisters.

      The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Chapel with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established for the Zion Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
