Accidents Take Lives of 5 In Valley During Weekend

Kenneth Roche, 29, 2421 N. Oneida St., Appleton
Mrs. Eileen Faskell Stern, 33, 1002 Algoma St., New London.......
Roche and Mrs. Stern drowned about 7:30 p.m. Sunday when their canoe overturned in about eight feet of water in a trout pond about three miles northwest of New London off Crain Road
They were attending a picnic for employes of Geralds Restaurnat of New London. Witnesses said the canoe overturened a few minutes after leaving the dock. New London firemen, with the aid of a skin diver and other volunteers, recovered the body of Mrs. Stern about a half-hour after the accident. Roche's body was recovered two hours later.

Age 33, passed away as a result of a drowning accident on Sunday. She was born December 13, 1936 in the town of Mukwa. She is survived by three daughters; Charmaine, Brenda, Lisa, two sons, Brian and James Jr., all at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Faskell New London; four sisters, Mrs. Everett Anderson, Waupaca; Mrs. William Stillman, New London; Mrs. Mary Rhoden, Long Beach, California; Miss Debra Faskell, New London; three brothers, Bernard J. Faskell, William and John, all of New London. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London. Burial will be Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. Rev. George F. Beth will officiate. Friends may call at the Cline and Hanson Funeral Home, New London after 2 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service. The parish rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
