- Carol B. Hopf, 84, Green Bay, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was born on December 21, 1927, in the town of Gibson to the late Ben and Nelia (Jensen) Henningsen. Carol graduated from Mishicot High School In 1945. She worked at Pauly Cheese Company where she met her future husband William R. Hopf. They were married on August 7, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Gibson and enjoyed 45 years together. William preceded her in death on November 29, 1993.
During her lifetime, Carol worked as a volunteer in her church and in the community. As an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, she assisted in Altar Guild, quilt making, and funeral luncheons. As a mother of four children, she led Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching Packer games, reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling, and traveling.
Carol is survived by her four children, Barbara (Ken) Mushel, Carla (Dr. Robert) Menner, William J. Hopf, and Susan Lemerond; seven grandchildren, Adam (Lucia) Mushel, Jenna Mushel and partner Robert Teer, Ryan (Valerie) Hopf, Shannon (Joel) Van De Hei, Nickolas Hopf, Seth (Christine) Lemerond, Saul Lemerond and partner Valerie Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Ethan Ortiz, Khloe Mushel, Kaley Mushel, Camdin Van De Hei, Beckett Van De Hei, and Aliyah Teer; sister and brother-in-law Violet (Clarence) Ney; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy (Herbert) Herman and Jack (Marion) Hopf; many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by special friends Tom Lemerond, Terry and Don Benishek, and a very special friend, Mary Hopf who helped a great deal when Carol became ill.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Peckham; a brother, Arnold Henningsen, and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Henningsen and Harriet (Robert) Schneider.
Visitation will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Visitation will continue again on Wednesday, May 30 from 10:00 am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1301 S. Ridge Road, until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating.
