- Dorothy A. Vander Zanden
N517 Duck-A-Way Court Appleton Age 65, died Thursday, February 17, 2000, at her home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy's journey began May 27, 1934, as she was born to the late Norbert and Helen (Eichhorst) Griepentrog.
Her siblings are Roland (Bernice) Griepentrog, Wayside Glenn (Doris) Griepentrog, Manitowoc. Her brother, Roy preceded her in death in 1965 Steve Griepentrog, her dear nephew, died in 1997. In 1952 she was joined in marriage to Wallace Piepenburg. They were blessed with four children, Cheryl (Jim) Roovers, Wrightstown Keith (Pat) Piepenburg, Appleton Joel (Nancy) Piepenburg, Appleton Bryan (Peggy) Piepenburg, Schofield. Wallace died in 1967.
Dorothy counted her grandchildren as the gift of her life, Heather, Sarah, Adam, Angie, Amber, Mike, Eric, Bailey as well as her great- grandchildren, Patience and Alek. In 1968 Dorothy and John Vander Zanden married John survives her. Three stepchildren joined her family, Gwenn (Ralph) Hidalgo and Marcus, Campbell, California Gregg (Jody) Vander Zanden and Joseph and Gregory, San Jose, California Gary (Debbie) Vander Zanden and Karissa, Campbell, California. Dorothy's prayer for many years has been from I John 3 vs. 4, "No greater joy can I have then this, to hear my children follow the truth."
Funeral services will be 11 a.m.
Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2220 E.
College Ave., Appleton, with Pastor Thomas Part officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Wayside. Friends may call directly at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and again after 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name.
Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna, is assisting the family with arrangements. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Philip Yazbak and his nurse practitioner, Diane, for their special care and concern. Today, dear Lord I stand before You new-clothed in Your presence in reunion with those I've loved and in contemplation of the exquisite splendor of Your realm. Grief and sorrow melt like summer snows, and I shall move through eternal sunshine. Mom-I'll miss you. My Mother, My Confidante, My Best Friend. Love, Cheryl
