- Requiem Mass for Madeline Agnes VanderZanden, 54, of Rt 2, Forest Grove was held Saturday at St. Francis Church at Roy, with the Rev. Norbert Fritz, pastor, and the Rev. James Crunican, Mrs. Vanderzanden's nephew, officiating. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery with pallbearers Harold, Everest, Rudy and Allan Vanderzanden, Bill Porter and Vernon Van Grunsven.
Mrs. VanderZanden died unexpectedly Tuesday at her home.
She was born Feb. 28, 1913, at McMinnville, Oregon, the daughter of Matthew and Bridget Crunican. Her father passed when she was four and her mother then married Antone Hermens.
She was married to Edward H. VanderZanden Aug. 25, 1934, at Verboort, and had lived in Forest Grove for 48 years.
She attended St. Mary of the Valley and was a graduate of Visitation high school. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church .
Surviving are her widower, Edward H. of Forest Grove; two sons, Eugene J. of Albany, Calif., and Robert E. of San Francisco; Calif., and five daughters, Evelyn of Izmir, Turkey, Diane of San Mateo, Calif., Regina of Portland, Eilene and Mary of Forest Grove.
Also surviving are brother Justin Crunican of Forest Grove; twin sister Mrs. C. J. (Mary) VanGrunsven of Hillsboro and sister Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Porter of Forest Grove;
