    • Formerly of Kimberly, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at a local nursing center at the age of 97. Winifred was born in New Richmond, Wisconsin on June 18, 1903, daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Davin) Lynch. She graduated from New Richmond High School in 1921 as well as from River Falls State Teachers College. She attended summer school at the University of Minnesota and the University of Colorado - Boulder. Win taught English in Taylor and Marathon, Wisconsin prior to coming to the Kimberly High School in 1927. She taught until her marriage to John Gerritts on December 27, 1938. In 1956 she returned to Kimberly High School and later became and elementary school librarian in 1960. John preceded her in death on May 14, 1961, and in 1969, Win retired. Her interests included gardening, reading, travel, and genealogy. Above all, she was a social creature whose life revolved around her family and her many dear friends.

      They include her son: Richard Gerritts of Minocqua; three daughters: Doris (Robert) Vander Loop of Henderson, Nevada; Judy (Donald) Canter of San Francisco; Mary (Charles) Stusek of Oshkosh; nine grandchildren: Robin Nazzarro, Douglas Gerritts, Fr. John Gerritts, Jack Vander Loop, Judy Turnquist, Robert Vander Loop, Lisa Vander Loop, David Vander Loop, and Daniel Vander Loop. She is further survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as by two sisters: Agnes (Donald) Murphy of Scottsdale, Arizona and Elizabeth Heimel of St. Paul, Minnesota. Win also leaves behind many dear friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband John, a sister Charlotte, a brother Joseph, a grandson James Vander Loop, and a daughter-in-law Gladys Gerritts.

      The memorial funeral liturgy for Win will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 4, 2001 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue, with Win’s grandson, Fr. John Gerritts officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. The family will receive family and friends directly at the church on Friday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the liturgy.
