      Mader, Wilma May (Beyer)
Wilma May (Beyer) Mader, 78, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. Wilma was born in 1930 to William and Ida Beyer. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Appleton High School. She worked as a drapery maker for a number of years. Wilma married George Mader on February 23, 1952. Together they raised three children. As her children were growing up, Wilma was a regular volunteer at their schools as well as at her church, Zion Lutheran. At the age of 50, Wilma learned to swim, and she swam over 1,500 miles at the Appleton YMCA. Earlier in life, Wilma loved to golf and bowl — and most recently spent time swimming, volunteering at church, and watching her grandsons play sports.
Wilma is survived by her three children and their spouses, Michelle Mader (Mark Moster), Mark Mader (Bonnie Gauger), and Mary Downs (Tim); and two grandsons, Cale and Noah Downs. She is also survived by her sister, Iris Lindauer; brother, Robert (Mary Ann) Beyer; and in-laws, Fran Leopold, Joan and Duane Peterson, and Tom and Faye Mader; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband H. George, her parents, her sister Mildred Eickhoff, and several in-laws.
Wilma's funeral will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, with Rev. Ron Nielson officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the Appleton YMCA.
The family would like to thank Dick and Millie Lehman for their care over the years.
