    • William, 66, of Vermontville, died at his home.

      Mr. Brooke was born the son of Forest and Estele (Ellsworth) Brooke. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and married Ethel Van Zeeland Nov. 5, 1960 in Lansing. He was employed at the Physical Plant-Maintenance Dept. at Michigan State University from 1965-91. After retiring he enjoyed watching his grandchildren fish on Brooke Pond. He also enjoyed planting trees on the farm, working on the sawmill, working in his wood ship, going to his grandchildren's activities, and enjoying their company.

      He is survived by two daughters, Mary (David) Malish of Eaton Rapids and Kimberly (William) McCague of Zanesville, Ohio; two sons, Joseph (Dawn) of Nashville and Thomas (Lorna) of Germany; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Brooke Malish, Brandon, Ryan, Holley Joe, Thomas and Skyler Brooke; sister, Carolyn (Robert) Ellston of Potterville; and one brother, Carl (Betty Jane) of Coldwater.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Dec. 9, 1997; his parents; one granddaughter, Ashley Brooke; two brothers, James and Neal; and one sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Covert.

      Services were November 22 at the Maple Valley Chapel, Nashville.
