Age 80, died unexpectedly Tuesday February 11, 1992 at his home. He was born November 5, 1911 in Freedom, the son of the late William and Barbara [Liesch] Carney. He was bon, raised and farmed in the Town of Freedom. After his retirement from farming, he was the custodian at the Freedom High School until 1976. Bill was also the caretaker for the VFW Memorial Park for a number of years. He was an avid sportsman, especially a Cub Fan and enjoyed a good card game. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and served as usher for many years, also a member of the Knights of Collumbus Council 1033. and the Little Chute Kiwanis Club.
Survived by his wife of 54 year, Loraine Weyenberg Carney; three sons and four daughters in-law; Tom and Carol Carney, Kimberly; Pat and Sherry Carney, Mike and Sandy Carnel, all of Little Chute; Joanne and Gerald Kieffer, Combined Locks; a daughter and son in-law; Donna and Glenn Muenster, Green Lake; 16 grandchildren; Mickey, Kim, Kristie, Kevin, Sarah, Kelly, Wendy, Stacy, Tyler, Travis, Bob, Lori, Tim, Lynn, Brian, and Amy; six great grandchildren; Nicole, Morgan, Ross, Joey, Arjay, Chelsea Ann; two sisters and brothers in-law; Margie and Ed Vand Loo, Hollandtown; Lillian Kortz, Freedom; Matt Daul, Freedom; his only living aunt, Laura Van Dyke, Appleton.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dan, December 19, 1969; three sisters, Cecilia Huss, Marie Daul and Leona Brochtrup. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom with Father Willard Vande Loo officiating. burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Friends may call at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom from 3 p.m. on Thursday until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Nicholas Parish. There will be no visitation at the Fargo Funeral Home, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna.
