    • Wallace C. Gebhart, age 83, of Chilton, died on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

      He was born April 28, 1924 in Brothertown, WI, son of the late Charles and Thelma (Strebe) Gebhart.

      Wallace served his country during WWII in the Army and Air Force until 1945, upon his discharge he married Dolores M. Krebsbach on April 13, 1948 in the town of Marytown.

      He and his wife were the owner and operator's of Gebhart's Tavern in Charlesburg and Cedar Creek Tavern on the corner of Hwy 151 and Hwy 67. He later worked as a sales representative for MB Company. Dolores preceded him in death in January of 1983.

      Wallace was a member of Good Shepherd, formerly St. Charles Parish, a member of the Eagles Club, and member of AOPA (Aircraft owners and pilots association). He enjoyed flying and collecting model cars. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards, and spending time with his dog Lucky.

      Survivors include his children: Sharon (Patrick) Schmitz of Fond du Lac and Linda (Dave) Shymanski of Chilton; 4 grandchildren: Jacqueline (Ken) Kleinhans of Campbellsport, Jody Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Aubrey ( Dustin) Hoye of East Lansing, MI, and Chase Parsons and special friend Bridget Koch of Brillion; 2 step-grandchildren: Karynne (Nathan) Hacker of Chilton, Joshua (Abby) Shymanski of Brillion; 5 great-grandchildren: Cory, Jessica, and Dylan Kleinhans and Brandon and Marissa Schmitz; 1 brother Robert (Eleanor) Gebhart of Kiel; 1 step-sister Kathleen Chapman of Berlin; a wonderful lady friend Anita Schaumberg; and a faithful companion Lucky.

      Wallace was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Curtis and Virginia Jodar.

      Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Monday, December 17, 2007 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton. Burial will be in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W Main St., Chilton) from 2:00 PM until 5:30 PM on Monday, December 17, 2007 when family prayers will be held.
