'Tom'
Winneconne, Wisconsin
Age 83, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2002 at his home. He was born February 8, 1918 in Little Chute, Wisconsin; the son of the late Willard and Helena (Hammen) Verstegen. Tom served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. Tom was married to Esther (Parche) Verstegen, and she preceded him in death in 1973. He married Artiese White in 1975 and they lived in Columbus, Nebraska for five years before splitting time between Florida and northern Wisconsin. Tom and Artiese then moved to Winneconne and have resided there for the past 15 years. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Tom was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne and the American Legion.
Tom is survived by his wife, Artiese Verstegen, Winneconne; two sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Carol Verstegen, Tinton Falls, New Jersey; Brian and Betty Verstegen, Sunnydale, California; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Ken Miller, Broomfield, Colorado; a step daughter and step son-in-law, Andrea and John Unewitz, Woodridge, Illinois; nine grandchildren: Michelle, Deborah, Jennifer, Benjamin, Kaitlin, Kelly, Leah, Lindsey, and Leslie; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alex; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.Along with his parents, and first wife, Esthe
Tom was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph, in 1947; and four sisters and two brothers: Eileen Verstegen, Merlin Spike Verstegen, Barbara Lingl, Jerry Verstegen, Grace Revoir, and Margaret Schlack.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Winneconne with the Rev. LeRoy Smet officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Columbus Cemetery in Columbus, Nebraska. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Mueller Funeral Home, Winneconne where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
