- Thomas Alvin Bertram, age 90, Appleton, passed away on July 27, 2019. Tom was born on January 31, 1929 in Sheboygan to Joseph and Josephine (Jicinsky) Bertram. He began his education in Algoma, Wisconsin for the first several years, and when his family moved to California, he completed his education by graduating from St. Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda.
After graduation he began his career as a Pharmacist. Next he worked at Blum Dental where he learned his trade. He started Precision Chrome Casting Dental Lab, Inc in 1952 and ran his business until first his retirement. After a brief retirement he resumed his career by working for V.P. of Denticon in Evanston, Illinois, the dental division of American Hospital Corporation.
Tom married Vera Meder in 1948, and she preceded him in 1995. In 1996 he married his second wife Jackie Dungar and is survived by her. He started a family in California where he lived from 1944 to 1977.
Besides his family, his passions included home remodeling with his kids, boating and sailing, playing golf, water skiing and tennis. He also enjoyed travelling in his RV with his family. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends. He loved cars and always had a new car every few years.
Tom will be sadly missed by: his wife Jackie, children Laura Bertram of Arizona; Tom (Margie) Bertram; Bill (Jody) Bertram, Bob (Nancy) Bertram, Jim (Amy) Bertram, son-in-law Bob Middendorf, 2 sisters, Lois Hody and Maryanne (Jack) Bertram, brother-in-law, Robert Meder, and sister-in-law Pat Meder many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Vera, his son Dan Bertram and daughter Anne Marie Bertram-Middendorf, grandchildren, Andrew Bertram and Matt Bertram, brother Jim (Julie) Bertram, and brothers-in-law Jerry, Bill and Bernie Meder.
Funeral Liturgy for Tom will be on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00am at St, Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State Street, Appleton, Wisconsin with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating.
