  • Notes
    • Theresa ("Pat") grew up on her parents farm in Shawano Co. on Shady Road, the southern County line road. Theresa graduated from the Maple Lawn School, located on the (now) Co. Rd. C in southern Shawano Co. She then worked for George Hoffensberger family, housekeeping in Appleton.
Theresa enjoyed dancing and met Orville at the Cinderella Ballroom on S. Oneida Street in Appleton during the fall of 1940. There were married at the Colling farm on March 15, 1941.
Orville grew up on the family farm on French Road in Osborn Township. He went to school through the sixth grade and then worked for various farmers in the area.
After their wedding Theresa and Orville lived for a short time on the Sievert family farm, then moved to Black Creek, WI. Theresa did babysitting and house cleaning while Orville worked for the Borden's Milk plant, hauling milk in the mornings and working on several farms after the milk route.
In 1944 they rented a farm from the Grady Family on the (now) Co. Rd. PP in Outagamie Co. Orville then worked for Les Rohm,
a local cattle dealer. Orville purchased the first square-twine-tied baler in the area and did custom baling, while Theresa tended the farm. Randy was born in March of 1948, but they soon learned
that he had a pancreas problem. He was not able to digest food
      normally.
In the spring of 1949 they purchased a farm on the (now) Calnin Road in the Town ofBlack Creek. The first year they ran both farms. That same summer arlin was diagnosed with Polio, the second case in Outagamie Co. that year. During the following four years more time was spent in the hospitals, for both Orlin and Randy, than at home. arlin spent two years at a private school in Appleton until arrangements were made for a teacher to come to the house. Randy could not digest food normally or sit up by himself until he was four years old.
In 1951 Orville began working for Kimberly-Clark Paper Mills as a Mill-rite, Field Service. Theresa then ran the farm with help from David and neighbors. Orville worked the fields during the evenings. As the family grew and there were more mouths to feed, everyone worked together and life was almost fun.
In 1953 Orlin was diagnosed with MS and was confined to a wheel chair. On March 22, 1962 he died from pneumonia. At that time David was in the US Navy and on board the USS Galveston, a light guided missile cruiser.
Theresa and Orville enjoyed their time with family and friends, playing cards and visiting. She was a great cook and he enjoyed woodworking. He made a variety of lawn ornaments, furniture and storage chests.
They retired from farming in 1973, sold the farm to their son,
David and built a house on the corner of the farm. In 1988 they
moved to a house on Mill Street in Seymour. Theresa was
diagnosed with cancer in 1996, so in 1997 they moved to a duplex
in Seymour, owned by their daughter, Connie and husband Dave
Ziese. After a long battle with cancer Theresa died on July 1,
1999. Orville stayed in the duplex until his death from heart
failure on October 22, 2002. Both are buried in Highland
      Memorial Park Cemetery, Appleton.
At the time of their deaths, they had 7 children, 24 grandchildren
and 7 great grandchildren. Now there are 2 more great
      grandchildren.
