    • Theda Jean Knaack, age 81, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Rennes Health Care Center. Theda was born in Neenah on February 21, 1933, to the late Alva and Angeline (Steiner) Patten Sr. On October 1, 1960, she was united in marriage to Glenn Knaack in Appleton. The couple enjoyed 48 years together until Glenn passed away in 2008. Theda worked in the cafeteria at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 11 years, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed playing bingo and cribbage, watching the Cubs and Jeopardy - but most of all, Theda loved spending time with her grandchildren. She belonged to AARP, Agewise, and First Congregational Church in Appleton.
      Theda is survived by her her daughter Karen (Rick) Meyer, Kimberly; her son Bradley J. (Michele) Knaack, Land of Lakes; six grandchildren: Jennifer (fiancé Eric Shaden) Meyer, Melissa (Rob) Kons, Dennis (Kendra) Meyer, Brian (Stephanie Trudell) Meyer, David (fiance Kimberly Schwobe) Meyer, and Ashley Meyer; 5 great grandchildren: Logan, Jaydon, McKenna, Mira, and Peyton.
      She was preceded in death by her parents Alva and Angeline, husband Glenn, son Gregory W. Knaack, and brother, Alva S. Patten Jr.
      A funeral service will take place at 4 pm on Tuesday, August 5, at First Congregational Church, 724 E. South River St., Appleton, with Rev. Jane Anderson officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 2 pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
      The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Affinity Hospice nurses for their kindness, care, and concern.
