- Tamra L. Sorenson, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at her home in Menasha. Tammy was born on July 18, 1959, in Waverly, Missouri, daughter of Maynard and Wanda (Kurtz) Beemer. She attended Appleton East High School, graduating in 1977. She then attended Fox Valley Tech, and earned her nursing assistant certificate. In 1983, Tammy was married to Peter Sorenson at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Appleton. She worked as a nursing assistant at Oakridge Gardens, and then at the Piggly Wiggly for over 25 years. Tammy enjoyed living on Lake Winnebago and loved lounging in her hammock, listening to the breeze and reflecting. She loved spending time at her cottage in Athelstane, hiking and biking on the trails, picking berries, and enjoying the wildlife. She was fond of flowers and gardening, and cooking for her family. Tammy was a very loving person, always unselfish and giving.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Pete; her son, Sam; her parents Maynard and Wanda Beemer; a sister, Gina (Chuck) Schroeder; a brother-in-law, Jack Sorenson; a sister-in-law, Kathy Sorenson, and her daughter Olivia; three nieces, Ali, Taylor, and Hannah; her mother-in-law, Joan Sorenson; her father-in-law, Wayne Sorenson and his wife Pat; a step-brother, Jim (Ann) Bridges, and their daughters, Hannah and Haley; and her beloved dog, Rosie.
A memorial service for Tammy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 724 East South River St., Appleton, with Rev. Steve Savides officiating. Friends may call on Saturday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tammy�s name may be made to a fund being established.
