    • Ruth Lessor of Little Chute passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous and valiant one year battle with cancer.

She was born on June 6, 1929 in a small town called Worth an der Donau in the district of Regensburg, in Bavaria, Germany, the only child of Oswin and Theresa (Mayerhofer) Graefe. It was during WWII that she met her husband Joseph and came to America two years later to marry him on April 17, 1948. They shared almost 50 years together and were blessed with five children. He preceded her in death on November 4, 1997.

Mom, Grandma, and our “Oma” was a remarkable woman with many talents. She had a great sense of humor, was incredibly generous and had the most wonderful capacity to love. She had a deep and unconditional love for her family. There is no doubt they, along with her strong faith, were the most important things in her life.

She is survived by five children: Sue (Mike) Landreman, Little Chute; Gail Woyak, Little Chute; Tim (Julie) Lessor, Appleton; Bob (Mary) Lessor, Kaukauna; Robin (Mark) Warnke, Appleton. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren: Michelle Landreman, Stephanie Landreman, Chris (Heather) Landreman, Tom (Stephanie) Woyak, Tiffany (Shawn) Williamson, Nick (Amanda) Lessor, Michael (Karissa) Lessor, Adam Warnke, Emily Warnke, Lizz VanDenBerg (fiancé Jon) and Carly (Mike) VandeVoort. 7 great grandchildren: Jack Landreman, Caleb Arndt, Paige Woyak, Aiden and Ava Williamson, Brinley Lessor and Maddie VandeVoort . Cousins: Else Mayerhofer, Rolf (Zenta) Mayerhofer and Ludwig (Annal) Mayerhofer of Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, her son-in-law Kenneth Woyak and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2220 E. College Ave, Appleton, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ruth’s name.

There is no way to thank all the people who cared for Mom on her final life journey. We will be forever grateful for Dr. Jonathon Tammala, Dr. Timothy Goggins, Dr. Carol Grabowksi, the staff of Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Jessica Johnston-Rickert MD, Affinity Hospice especially Laurie, Laurie and Toni, Rev. Dr. Martin Koeller and Rev. Timothy Seabaugh. We would also like to extend a special thank you to her neighbors, Tim & Cheryl Myers, and special friend Judy Ralph for all the “extras” they did for her.

If there is a legacy mom left us with, it is how to love. What a remarkably strong woman she was! She was truly a hero….our hero!

To my children and grandchildren: I will miss and love you forever. When you hear the cuckoo clock think of me and when you find the brightest star in the heavens, it is me! Gute nacht, schlaf gut, traum suss, Pfuat di Gott! Auf Wiedersehen! Love, Your Mom and Oma
