    • Rose M. Coenen, age 80, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 13, 2019. She was born on January 30, 1939, daughter of the late William and Florence (Vande Hey) Gloudemans. On June 19, 1958, Rose married Norm Coenen at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute.

For a few years after high school, Rose worked at Vally Iron, but ultimately joined with Norm and helped run Coenen Meat Service for 30 years. She also worked at the Piggly Wiggly in the bakery for 15 years.

Rose had a deep faith, and did an incredible amount of volunteering throughout the years including: helping at the Xavier food fair, working many parish picnics at St. Thomas More, president of the St. Thomas More Home School Association and the Coenen’s were even the family of the year through the Knights of Columbus for the countless hours Rose and Norm spent volunteering. She enjoyed playing sheepshead, Mexican dominoes, bowling and snowmobiling. Most of all, Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family camping on Chute Pond or at the cottage on Legend Lake. She truly enjoyed being surrounded by her family as often as possible.

Rose is survived by her husband of 60 years, Norm Coenen; children: Randy (Pamela) Coenen, Rick (Theresa) Coenen, Debbie Coenen and Susan Steffen; grandchildren: Jessie (Jared), Tiffani (Luke), Alexander (Kathryn), Samuel, Joshua, Desiree (Jason), Taylor, Zaiden, Alexis and Alyssa; great grandchildren: Karma, Kaydence, Kaleb, Lillian, Henry, Xander, Destiney, Jason Jr., Sonny, Serenity, Annabelle and Ava; siblings: Jerry (Mary) Gloudemans, Pat (Jerry) Van Hoof and Bill (Carol) Gloudemans; brothers and sisters-in-law: Alice (Dick) Vande Hey, Lloyd (Julie) Coenen, Marilyn Van Dyke and Maggie Coenen; many other family members and friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence; a brother, Tom Gloudemans; brothers and sisters-in-law: Irvan (Patricia) Coenen, Lavern (Richard) McCarthy, Ray Coenen, Bill (Doris) Coenen and Norbert Van Dyke; Norm’s parents, Peter and Laura Coenen.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton, with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Rose’s name. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
