    • Rosella Clara (Dorn) Ernst, age 93, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Tivoli in Portage.

      Rosella was born on March 13, 1922, in Greenville, the daughter of Daniel and Charlotte (Ulmen) Dorn, Sr., the 6th child of 13. She married Rudolph Ernst in Greenville on October 15, 1940. They had 6 children together. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1980. Rosella had worked numerous jobs while raising her children. She retired at age 75. She loved to travel, including trips to Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Portugal, Yugoslavia, and many cruises with family members. Rosella had a very strong Catholic faith. She was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters for over 70 years.

      She is survived by her children, Jerold (Carol Laursen) Ernst, of Portage, Ronald Ernst, of Minnesota, Thomas Ernst, of California, Jean (Ron McCormick) Griepentrog, of Pardeeville, Kathleen Paulin, of Okauchee, and Elizabeth (Alfred “Stu”) Griepentrog, of Pardeeville; her former daughters-in-law, Beverly Bortz of Portage, and Linda Heaps, of Friesland; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson, Christopher (Michelle) Ernst, of Waunakee and their children, Mitchell, Preston, Benjamin, and Jessilyn; Kelly (Brennen) Weigel, of Sun Prairie, and their children, Carson and Mackenzie; Corey Ernst of Packwaukee; Jerilyn (Darren) Alsum, of Randolph and their children, Colton and Piper; James Ernst of Baraboo, and his children Steven and Raven; Lisa (Mark) Werner, of Pardeeville, and their children, Taylor (Jakop Gray) and Brennen; Judith (Jason) Syens, of Portage, and their children, Jacob Mitchell, Cameron Weiss, Kloe Bielke, and Jackson Syens; Michael Griepentrog, of Pardeeville, and his children, Rex, Jamie (Brandon Herman) Michael, Alex Ehlert (Ryan Johnson) and their son Carson Johnson; Lori (Rodney) Osterhaus, of Dalton, and their children, Clay, Landon, Kaden, Ashton, and Chayce; Bridget Griepentrog of Nashville, TN, Oscar Griepentrog, of Pardeeville, Nathan (Tiffany Halstead) Griepentrog, of Portage and Steven Griepentrog, of DeForest; her siblings, Florence Woldt, Donald Dorn, Charlotte Koerner, Lawrence Dorn, Patricia Jack, Beatrice (Eugene) Otto, her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Dorn and Joyce Dorn, all from the Fox Valley area, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Joanne Ernst, her sons-in-law, Vernon “Oscar” Griepentrog and Russell Paulin, her siblings, Esthermae (John) Krull, Edwin (Loretta) Dorn, Eugene (Dorothy) Dorn, Eunice (Reginald) Brockman, Daniel Dorn and Jerome Dorn, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold Woldt, Laverne Dorn, Jack Koerner, Delores Dorn, Billie Jean Dorn and Eric Jack.

      Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Portage, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Burial will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Pardeeville Cemetery.

      Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage.

      The family would like to thank the staff of Tivoli for their excellent care of their Mom.
