    • Roland "Rolly" Piette, 82, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Cherry Meadows, Appleton. He was born on October 13, 1928, in Appleton; son of the late Marslent and Lucille Piette. On May 29, 1948, he was united in marriage to Alvina Hartzheim. Alvina "Boots" Piette preceded him in death November 2, 2010.

      He and Boots were charter members of St. Bernard Catholic Parish. Rolly founded and was owner of Roland Piette Sandblasting and Painting, Appleton.
      He is survived by his children, Jim (Jean) Piette, Appleton, Lynn (Don) Freimuth, Appleton and Becky (Jim) Heegeman, Waupaca; grandchildren, Dave (Patie) Freimuth, Carrie (Steve) Kissel, Dan Managan, Greg Piette and Kristy (Kyle) Maass; great grandchildren, Kayla, Ethan, Emily, Thompson and Melina and by many other relatives and friends.
      He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a grandson, Tom Freimuth.
      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton, with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Family and friends may visit at Valley Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. A prayer service will be held on Thursday at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. A memorial fund is being established in his name.
      The family would like to say a special thank you to his grandson, Dan for all his compassion and loving care.
