- Roland Gerald Heidke, "Rollie" "Ronnie", age 83, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2012 at home in Neenah. He was born on July 24, 1928, son of the late Theodore and Elsie Heidke. On August 20, 1947 he married Luella L. Pelky in Bear Creek. They were blessed with a family of six children. He did some farming in Bear Creek when they were first married. They've lived at their residence in Neenah since the Spring of 1956. Roland took a job with Hewitt Machine and worked there for over 35 years as a Journeyman Machinist. Over the years, Roland held several positions within his Machinist's Union, the Local 1855.
Roland was a member of St. Gabriel Church in Neenah. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and bowling. In 1977 the family started the family restaurant, Jim's Drive Inn, in Neenah. Roland enjoyed the customers and all the employees at the Drive Inn until it closed in 1987. He also enjoyed Monday morning breakfasts with friends and attending Saturday auctions.
Roland will be warmly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Luella; his sons: Robert (Nancy), Oshkosh, James, Milwaukee, Daniel, Neenah; his daughter, Mary (Jay) Brehmer, Appleton; grandchildren: Rebecca (Jeremy) Kwiatkowski, Michael Heidke, Kristy Heidke, Nicholas Heidke, Benjamin Heidke, Faith (Mike) Thomack, Catherine (Mike) Link, Andrew Heidke, Elissa Heidke, Matthew Brehmer, Joshua Brehmer, Eric Heidke, Ashlee Heidke, Eli Heidke; great grandchildren: Hailey, Wyatt, Aeden, Natalie, Noah, Jake, Madelyn, Hope, and Braydon; daughters-in-law: Bette Heidke and Mary Larsen; a sister, Bernice (Clarence) Prellwitz, Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: William and Gerald; and four siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial for Roland will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Father Richard Allen officiating. Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass in the chapel at church. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Bear Creek, Wisconsin.
