- Zimmer, Roger
Roger Zimmer, 86, Green Bay died peacefully Sunday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2005, at his home from congestive heart failure. He was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Marshfield and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. On April 29, 1939, he married the former Lucille Liebel in Milwaukee. Roger worked as an ice cream maker, a meat cutter, a fieldman for the dairy industry, and as a Registered Grade A Sanitarian for the State of Wisconsin. He was a member of the Green Bay Mens Club and the D.A.V. Post #3, Green Bay. In his younger days, Roger was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Lucille had been members of the National Campers & Hikers Association and the Whirl-a-Way Square dancing Club. He enjoyed playing bingo at Nativity Parish and spending time at his cottage.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Mary Zimmer, Green Bay; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Don Terrien, Green Bay; five grandchildren, Steve (Becky) Zimmer, Patti (Mike) Havlicek, Holly (Ryan) Rottier, Natalie (D.J.) Rein, and LuAnn Terrien; eight great-grandchildren, Emily and Charlie Zimmer, Ben and Jack Havlicek, Cameron and Rene Rottier, Olivia and Gabriella Rein; four brothers, Lloyd (Jean) Zimmer, Marshfield; Lowell (Sue) Zimmer, Madison; George (Ruth) Zimmer, Kenosha; Russ Zimmer, Texas; one brother-in-law, Kenny (Sandy) Liebel, Muskego; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, on July 19, 2004; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold (Gladys) Zimmer and Bob (Ruth) Zimmer; and one sister-in-law, Margie Zimmer.
Friends may call at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Cormier and Oneida Street, Ashwaubenon after 8 a.m. Friday. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Friday at the church, Fr. James Hablewitz presiding with entombment in Fort Howard Mausoleum, Green Bay. Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the Respiratory Care Unit of St. Marys Hospital and Unity Hospice for their incredible love and kindness.
