    • Rodney 'Rod' Raymond Hoier, age 51 of Hudson, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 15th 2017 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis. Rod was born on November 5, 1965 in New London, Wisconsin; the son of Raymond and June (Jarvais) Hoier. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Bear Creek prior to graduating from Clintonville High School. He received a bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Rod currently worked as a Cache DBA for Velocity Technology Solutions in Minneapolis, prior to that, he worked for Lawson Software in St. Paul for many years.

      On January 6, 2007, he was united in marriage to Kara Erickson at Fort Snelling Chapel in Minneapolis. In 2009, this union was blessed with a beautiful daughter Claire. Rod loved spending time with his family and his many lifelong friends. He enjoyed baking cookies with his daughter, taking her sliding in the winter, and swimming in the summer. He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan and loved ice fishing, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time at the family cabin near Elcho, Wisconsin.

      Rod will forever live on in the hearts of his wife and best friend Kara; daughter Claire; loving aunt Joan Olmsted; siblings Andy (Lorry) Hoier, John (Hazel) Hoier, Amy (Manny) Silva, Mary (Ken) Hohensee, Sue (John) Rusch, Don (Char) Olmsted, Pat (Tom) Daley, Joan (Jerry) Plumb, Dan (Chris) Olmsted, Jim Olmsted, Mike (Sarah) Olmsted, Jerry (Lisa) Olmsted, mother-in-law Joanne Erickson, sisters/brothers-in-law Kirsten Erickson, Kevin Grube, Laurel (Harry) Sobanski, Audrey Bishop; many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Kathleen Hoier and uncle Keith Olmsted.

      Mass of Christian Burial for Rod Hoier will be at 1:00PM Saturday, January 21st at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson. Visitation will be two hours prior to the mass on Saturday at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials are preferred and will be used for his daughter Claire's education fund. A remembrance service for family and friends will also be held at St. Mary's Church in Bear Creek, WI on February 2nd at 11:00AM.
