Celebrating his arrival in Heaven are his parents, Sylvester Houk and Minnie Houk- Eckhart, his sons: Robert Jr. "Skip" and William "Bill" Houk, his sisters: Josephine (Ken) Wege, Winnefred (Russell) Johnson and Delores (Nub) Humblet, son-in-law, Larry Bricco, grandson, Sammy Falk, and a great-grandson, Linus Young.

Bob was born on December 3, 1922. He was a lifelong member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. He graduated from New London High School. Life comes full circle as Bob and Leslie live at the Washington Center - their apartment is where study hall was so he remembered good times there! He joined the U.S. Army Air Force after the attack on Pearl Harbor and was an aircraft gunner and radio operator having flown 25 missions over Europe. After returning to the U.S. he was stationed at Ellington Field, Houston, Texas. While there he met the love of his life, Leslie Jane Barker who was in the WAC (Women's Army Corp) stationed at the same base. They were married on September 8, 1945 and made their home in New London. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this year. Bob worked for the New London Utilities for 35 years having been manager for 12 years before his retirement in 1984. Bob and Leslie enjoyed golfing and were members of the New London Country Club for many years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Leslie; three children: Barbara Bricco, Richard (Pam) Houk and Deborah (Steve) Thompson; fourteen grandchildren: John Young, Jeff Young, Kerry Jo Krueger, Aaron Houk, Katie O'Connell, Michelle Stang, Mandy Eggert, Melanie Chally, Kim Houk, Tim Houk, Kristy Riehl, Amie Spratt, Jesse Falk and Dylan Thompson; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Father Joseph Arul I. officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at the church with the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Cline Hanson Funeral Home, New London assisted with arrangements.

A special thank you to Gold Cross Ambulance, New London ER, Appleton Medical Center Intensive Care and Appleton Medical Center 3rd floor for the wonderful and compassionate care Bob received. Also to the staff at the Washington Center for their love and support through the past years.
