- Robert Harrison Ruth passed away Nov. 14 at the age of 85. Robert was born Nov 22, 1926, in Aurora, IL to Harrison and Laura Ruth.
Bob lived the majority of his life in Appleton, Wisconsin, and worked as a linotype operator, a trade he learned in his father's print shop. He retired with his wife Betty Lou to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 1989.
Bob was a World War II veteran. He frequently hung out at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post, was a past Commander of VFW Post 2778 in Appleton and member of the Military Order of the Cootie.
Bob loved fishing in Wisconsin. He spent many bucolic summer days and nights at the family cottage on Bass Lake near Fremont in Waupaca County catching bluegills, perch, trout and bass. After moving to Arizona, he enjoyed fishing in Lake Havasu and trips to casinos.
Survivors include sister Patricia Ruth Acheson and brother-in-law James Acheson of El Cajon, CA; daughter Robin Jean Ruth, son-in-law Barry Grobman and granddaughter Samantha Ruth Pullen of Belmont, CA; and daughter Lynn Ruth Selene and her partner Clark Whiting of Minneapolis, MN. His wife Betty Louella Ruth, nee Reetz, passed away in 2003.
A funeral service will take place at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 2170 Havasupai Blvd, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 on Dec. 18th at 2 p.m. to place Bob's ashes in the church columbarium next to his wife's.
A gun salute service and reception will follow at 3 p.m. at VFW Post 9401, 266 London Bridge Rd, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
