- On May 25, 2010, Randall Jerome Riese, husband of Jeanne (Wolfarth) Riese, died at home in Barnes, Wisconsin after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 50. Randy was born to Maureen (Fenlon) Riese and Jerome Riese on June 25, 1959, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He grew up in east central Wisconsin, and especially treasured fishing, camping, swimming, hunting, and canoeing. Randy attended Valparaiso University in Indiana on a football scholarship. He played defensive end, and made First Team All Conference in his junior and senior years. At the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Randy earned an MBA in finance, and then joined Kimberly-Clark Corporation in the purchasing department. He was also on the KimCentral Credit Union board of directors for several years. Most recently, Randy worked for Resources Global Professionals with its client, Johnson Controls, in Milwaukee. On May 23, 1987, Randy married Jeanne Marie Wolfarth in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In the 1990s, Randy and Jeanne moved often for work and lived in seven different cities across the U.S. In 2007, they settled down in Barnes, Wisconsin, at a cabin on Upper Eau Claire Lake.
Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen (Fenlon) Riese, and is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Wolfarth) Riese, his father, Dr. Jerome Riese, 22 beloved nieces and nephews, and seven siblings: Ruth (David) Landsverk in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Rebecca (Thomas) Kelly in Appleton, Wisconsin; Rachel (David) Segal in Dallas, Texas; Dr. Richard (Jeannine) Riese in Boston, Massachusetts; Judith (Brian) Blaney in Burlington, Kentucky; Jerome (Karen) Riese Jr. in Kenosha, Wisconsin; and Dr. Matthew (Annette) Riese in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hayward, Wisconsin. The Very Reverend Philip J. Juza will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the mass begins. A luncheon will immediately follow the service, in St. Joseph's parish hall. The private burial of Randy's ashes will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Washburn, Wisconsin.
In lieu of cut flowers, Randy suggested potted plants native to northern Wisconsin. The Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home (715-634-2609) can offer referrals to a local greenhouse.
