    • Owen Roberts, 90, Former Kaukauna Fireman, Dies

      Owen E. Roberts, 90, of 204 ½ Island street, Kaukauna, died at his home after a short illness 5:30 Thursday evening.

      Roberts was born at Grand Mannan island, Nova Scotia, Canada, on July 6, 1868. He came to the United States when he was 12 years old and settled in Kaukauna in 1881. He was a member of the Kaukauna Fire department from 1905 to 1934, when he retired. Roberts was the horseman for the department.

      Funeral services will be at 9:30 Monday morning at the Greenwood Funeral home, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery, Kaukauna. The Rev. Peter Salm, pastor of St. Mary Catholic church, Kaukauna, will officiate. The rosary will be recited Saturday and Sunday evenings at 8 o'clock.

      Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock Saturday evening.

      Survivors include four sons, Robert, Bert, Arthur and Kenneth, all of Kaukauna; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
