Carpenter, Othilia M. "Tillie" Othilia M. "Tillie" Carpenter, age 97, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at the Birch Hill Health Care Center of Shawano. She was born Othilia Mary Killian on Sept. 25, 1910, in Kaukauna to Adam & Johanna (Lohmann) Killian. She was baptized, received first communion and was married at St. Mary Catholic Church of Kaukauna. She graduated from Kaukauna High School, Outagamie County Normal School of Kaukauna and Central State Teachers College of Stevens Point. Tillie was a teacher in Outagamie and Brown counties and a bookkeeper prior to being united in marriage to Erwin C. Carpenter on May 1, 1938, in Kaukauna. After their marriage, Tillie's full-time occupation was Mom to her 4 boys. They lived in Kaukauna and Appleton before moving to Shawano in 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband Erwin on September 1, 1986.
She is survived by her four sons: David Carpenter, Madison; Gerald (Anita) Carpenter, Oshkosh; Ralph (Cheryl) Carpenter, Appleton; Thomas (Barbara) Carpenter, De Pere; three grandchildren: Brad (Linda) Carpenter, Robert (Rachel) Carpenter and Paige (Jeff York) Carpenter and three great-grandchildren: Hannah, Laurel and Lindsay Carpenter; sister-in-law, Mildred Killian, Dimondale, MI.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral Services Friday, November 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. David Barrett, officiating. Entombment at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the Church until time of services. Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial fund for the Activity Room at Birch Hill Heath Care Center has been established in her memory.
