- Orin N. Rohde, 905 W. Glendale Av., Appleton, 72, died unexpectedly on Sun. May 28, 2000 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 5, 1927 in Oshkosh, the son of the late Emil and Margaret Baller Rohde. On Apr. 24, 1954 Orin was united in marriage to Shirley Oskey at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. For 46 years, he worked as a machine operator for the Tuttle Press Company. Orin was active in many programs. He devoted his time to the March of Dimes, was a tour guide to school children at the Outagamie County Landfill and was also involved with the Winnebago Alert Club for 25 years. Orin also helped in establishing the Old Wood-Type Museum in Two Rivers. He remained active with the museum by later becoming a tour guide and was a carrier for the Bargain Bulletin.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Rohde, Appleton; their children Lynn (Steven) Schleitwiler, Greenville; Gary (Sandra) Rohde, Darboy; Cheryl (Bradley) Schmitzer, Town of Menasha; six grandchildren: Sara, Katie, Kristoffer, Kristy, Paul and Cameron; a sister, Audrey (Roy) Ganzel, Cecil; a brother Everett (Betty) Rohde, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Elly Rohde, Baltimore MD; and nieces and nephews.
Orin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harland. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday May 31, 2000 at Highland Memorial Park, Star of Hope Chapel with the Rev. Paul R. Brinkman officiating. Friends may call directly at the cemetery chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park.
