- O.B. Remington died in Sutter County with his wife by his side - Mrs. Helen (Pace) Remington. In Palo Alto, he raised two children, the eldest Alan - and a daughter, Joni (Joan). He worked for United Airlines as a Production Coordinator at the 'Maintenance Base" at the S.F. Airport in San Bruno. He was a part of a team of gentlemen during the 1950's and 1960's up until his retirement at the age of 62 in 1972. His wife at that time was Dorothy (Henningsen) Remington, the mother of the two children mentioned above. He had been previously married as well, and had other children living in California. His grave plot is located at Alta Mesa Cemetery with his wife Dorothy, however - it should be noted that he was cremated after his death and his wish for his ashes to be scattered over the Pacific Ocean was to happen. Sadly, the air transport company was found to be misleading people, and a truck of ashes during the time frame matching his death shows that the truck went sideways on a cliff in the Sierra Foothills not too far from where he died. His plot remains at the Alta Mesa Cemetery in memory of his life. He was a very quiet man during my childhood years and spoke little of his family in Kansas where he was born, and the years following his moving to California, and his Navy career prior to WWII and a short time during WWII. I have learned now (2013) of other family members from his prior marriages. It seems that in life, losing his father at age 7 months, his only uncle when he was about 10 years old, and his mother's 2nd marriage may have made his young life difficult; that being said, he carried with him in death, many secrets that have been discovered; I love him for the father he was to me - simple, quiet and supportive. Thank you for Stanford Football games and Giant's Baseball games at Candlestick park. It was always fun to make a "Palo Alto Dump" run - and see what treasures you could dig up and re-make into something new. Rest in Peace, dad.
