      Age 74, died Sunday, April 30, 1989, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mathias and Anna (Reidl) Hecker. He married Doris M. Schmidt on July 28, 1945, in Menasha. He was a graduate of Lawrence University in 1939. He was a First Lieutenant in World War II; serving with the 29th Field Artillery Battalion of the Third Army. He received the Purple Heart and theBronze Star. He was employed at Kimberly-Clark Corporation for 40 years, prior to his retirement in 1980; and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was a membber of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, and the Neenah/Menasha Elks Lodge No. 676. He is survived by his wife, Doris; a daughter and son-in-law: Christine and Michael Gonia, Franklin, Wisconsin; two gradchildren: Jerome and Lindsay Gonia; two brothers: Gerald J., Phoenix, Arizona; Mathias J. Jr., Appleton. He is also survived by brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Kessler Funeral Home, and at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father David Baeten officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah, Friends may call at the Kessler Funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. A memorial has been established for the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.
