- Nettie Katherine (Schmalz) Syring
Nettie Syring, age 63, formerly of Appleton, passed away on December 8, 2014, at her home in Oceanside, California. She was born on August 6, 1951, to John and Patricia Schmalz, and married Robert Syring on November 4, 1971. Nettie was well-known to family and friends as a very compassionate, warm-hearted and gentle woman. She attended Holy Angels School in Darboy and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1969. Nettie loved living on the Pacific coast and truly enjoyed time spent on the beach. She also enjoyed the Delmar Race track, loved purple butterflies and red hearts, and was an avid Packer fan. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with her husband, children and grandsons. Her last hurrah was her Alaskan cruise on her 63rd birthday with her whole family!
Survivors include her very much loved husband of 43 years, Robert Sr.; her daughter, Tracy (Todd) Nankervis; her son, Robert Syring, Jr.; and her grandsons, Nolan and Jeffrey; her brother, John (Judy) Schmalz, Jr. She is further survived by her husband's large, loving family. Nettie was preceded in death by her father, John Schmalz; her brother, Jeff; her maternal grandmother, Nettie Smith; her paternal grandparents, Irene and Reuben Schmalz; her aunt, Janet Weber; and her uncles, Jerry (Sally) Schmalz and Joe (Betty) Schmalz.
The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
