- Nellie T. Rutten, daughter of George and Elizabeth Hartford Hiett, was born on December 24, 1909 in Howard County, Nebraska. She departed this life on June 7, 1971 at St. Paul, at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 14 days.
She grew to womanhood in Howard County and received her education in the St. Paul schools.
She was united in marriage to Ted Rutten in 1928. They made their home in the Palmer community where she spent the remainder of her life.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Palmer, the Royal Neighbors of America and various other organizations.
She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Joan Milan of Norman, Oklahoma, Mrs. Jean Schlueter of St. Paul, Mrs. Juanita Marie of Riverside, California, Mrs. Janice Kurz of Palmer, Mrs. Joyce Hunziker of Fort Lupton, Colorado, and Miss JaNell Rutten of Palmer; two sons: Ted, Jr. and Bill of Palmer; two sisters: Mrs. Carrie Forbes of Palmer and Mrs. Bessie Adams of Canby, Oregon; one brother, Ora Hiett of Idaho Falls, Idaho; twenty-two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and four brothers.
