  • Notes
    • Nellie Laura (Pamperin) Gatske, 102, entered into eternal life on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Pat Tesch, where she resided for the past three years. Nellie was born in Mill Center on March 1, 1907, the eldest daughter of Nettie (Tilly) and Albert Pamperin. On June 6, 1925, she married Victor Gatske. They later had three children, Robert, Patricia and James. Victor preceded Nellie in death in April of 1971.

Nellie's favorite times were those spent with her large, extended family at birthdays, weddings, reunions, holidays and family outings. She loved going out to eat. Her favorites were Kropp's for perch, Red Lobster for lunch, and breakfasts on Sundays with her friends from church. She enjoyed baking, cooking, playing cards, especially cribbage, and attending and watching Green Bay Packers games. Nellie had nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Many of her friends and family were the lucky recipients of the dozens and dozens of her home baked cookies, especially her "famous" holiday cut-outs. Nellie was always there to lend a helping hand to whomever needed one. Family and friends were very fond of her reminiscing of the "old" Green Bay area and especially her stories of childhood memories. She was VERY proud when she turned 100 and then 101, and 102, constantly smiling when she proclaimed she was the oldest living Pamperin.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Glenn) Tesch, De Pere; two sons, Robert (Joyce Calawerts) Gatske, Lakewood; James (Judy Wittig) Gatske, Green Bay; nine grandchildren, Marsha (Bill) Farrell, Green Bay; Mary (Butch) Skinner, Wausau; Tom (Colleen) Gatske, Dan (Linda) Gatske, all of Green Bay; Julie (Hal) McNair, Florida; Bill (Chris) Tesch, South Dakota; Stephanie (Scott) Bredael, Minnesota; Todd Gatske, Madison; Amanda Gatske and her fiance, Todd Fulton, California; 18 great-grandchildren, Trevor (Brenda) Farrell, Ryan Farrell, Kevin Farrell, Moira Farrell, Michael Farrell, all of Green Bay; Joseph Farrell, North Carolina; Shawn Farrell, Madison; Megan (Joe) Lasee, California; Molly and Mandy Gatske, Green Bay; Carrie (Chris) Batterson, Kewaunee; Erin Gatske, Green Bay; Ryan and Ellen McNair, Florida; Jacob and Becky Tesch, South Dakota; Seth and Summer Bredael, Minnesota; five great-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Bennett, Gretchen Farrell, all of Green Bay; Hunter and Zachary Batterson, Kewaunee; many special nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as some wonderful friends.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Vic; her sister, Edna Hussin; two brothers, Raymond and William Pamperin; and one grandson, Thomas Tesch.

Friends may call at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1024 Shawano Ave., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday. A celebration of Nellie's life and the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Kathryn Schreitmueller and Nellie's grandson, the Rev. Bill Tesch officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
