- Joyce Emily Ullmann Dahlke, age 73, of Neshkoro, formerly of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, at ThedaCare Medical Center in New London after a short illness. Joyce was born in Wausau on October 5, 1944, to the late LeRoy and Emma (Wiesner) Maas. She graduated with the class of 1964 at Appleton West High School. Following high school, she worked at AAL, now known as Thrivent. On June 11, 1966, Joyce was united in marriage to Larry Ullmann at Faith Lutheran Church, Appleton. Larry preceded her in death in 1990. She married Donn H. Dahlke in October 16, 1993, Donn preceded her in death in 2005. Joyce worked in the Appleton School System for many years as a teachers aide. She volunteered for LWML through Calvary Lutheran Church in Princeton and at Second Time Around. Joyce loved teaching the kids at Vacation Bible School in the summers and she also enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, ceramics, and singing especially in the choir.
She will be missed by her two daughters: Cheryl Lynn Ullmann, of Appleton, and Julie Katheryn Ullmann, of New London; three grandchildren: Jordan, Hope, and Seth; and sister-in-law, Carol Maas, Appleton. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brother Richard, and sister Marlene.
A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, August 28, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends and relatives may visit at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 9 am until 10:45 am. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
