- Josephine "Jo" Luben, age 90, passed away on November 20, 2012 at her home. She was born in Kaukauna on March 21st, 1922 to the late Nickolas and Katherine (Huss) DeCoster. Jo and her husband Ed owned and operated Luben Jewelry Store for over 50 years. Jo was a very active member of the Elks Club, Christ Child Society, Dance Club, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She enjoyed hosting elaborate dinner parties for her friends and family. There was always a lot of fun when Jo, her good friend Bette Milhaupt and the rest of the snoop sisters got together.
She will be sadly missed by her children: John (Betsy) Moder, Luke (Sue) Moder, Lynn Stadler, Ed (Julia) Luben, and Patty Firkus; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her sister Bette Ives; sisters in law Marcella "Red" DeCoster and Gladys Emons. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Luben; two daughters: Sharon Moder and Cynthia Luben; daughter in law Janice Moder; 3 sisters: Fran Vils, Marie Driessen, and Helen Schleinz; and a brother, William "Bud" DeCoster.
As per Jo's wishes, a private prayer service was held by her family. Inurnment will take place at Community Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to ThedaCare at Home Hospice and special care givers Ann and Lori. They would also like to thank Father Gerald Falk of St. Thomas More for his compassion and guidance. A special thank you to her daughter Lynn for her dedication and care she provided.
