Joseph M. Wildenberg, Little Chute, age 66, died Thursday September 25, 2014. He wanted me to tell everyone that he died unexpectedly. He never expected to live this long.
Joe was born on December 23, 1947 in Plymouth, WI to the Merin and Peggy (Clark) Wildenberg. He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1966-69, having served in Vietnam from 1967-69 and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Joe married Leanne Witthuhn on April 3, 1976 at St. Bernard Parish. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local #8 for 27 years before his retirement in 2000.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Leanne; son Jeremy (Isabel); grandchildren: Ethan, Seth, Kyra and Liam; mother Peggy; brothers: Mike (Gina) and Mark (Nancy); and sisters: Sue (Merl) Mantei, Kater (Steve) Gaffney and Carrie Bevers. He is further survived by in-laws: Larry (Elaine) Witthuhn, Deb (Bob) Gebheim, Cheryl (Mike) Seelow, Tim (Lori) Witthuhn, Terry (Kim) Witthuhn, Robin (Craig) Laehn and John Barkett; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by sisters-in-law: Sharon Wildenberg and Sandy Barkett; and brother-in-law: Mike Witthuhn.
A memorial gathering will be held Monday September 29, 2014 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 4:00 until time of Military Rites at 6:00 p.m. A memorial is being established. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
