Buelow, Joe L.
Joe L. Buelow, age 46, of Appleton, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center. Joe was born on December 10, 1962, in Appleton, the son of Thomas and Lois (Blohm) Buelow. He was a graduate of Freedom High School, class of 1981. On June 23, 1989, he was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Uitenbroek in Darboy. Joe was a self-employed mason who took a great deal of pride in his work. For over 20 years he was active in coaching basketball. He began his coaching career with the Freedom Area youth programs, Freedom High School, and was presently the head coach of the Junior Varsity Basketball Team at Kaukauna High School for the past four years. Joe loved snowmobiling, reading, was a movie buff, and enjoyed all varieties of music. He was happiest making a difference in young people's lives and helping others whenever needed.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; his daughter Jennifer; his son Lee; his mother Lois; a brother Tony (special friend Patty Zielke); a sister Sarah (Mark) Schmit; his godfather Doug (Ellie) Buelow; mother and father-in-law, Donna and Paul Uitenbroek; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jean (Erik) Barnes, Sue (Pete) Scherer, Tony (Diane) Uitenbroek, Julie (Ken) Bastian; and his faithful companion Shadow. He is further survived by nieces and nephews: Tara (Ryan), godson Troy (special friend Trisha), Billie (fiance Nathan), Aurora, Melissa, Travis, Nick, Chelsey, Trevor, Hannah, Philip, Kayla, Alex, and Amy; great nieces: Leigha, Larissa, and Alivia.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Tom Buelow; two brothers: Bill and Michael, a sister Beth, a nephew Ben, and a niece Erin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2009, at the Freedom Moravian Church, W3457 Center Valley Road (between EE & French Road) with Rev. Jason Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom Moravian Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, (766-2099) on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund in Joe's name is being established.
