      Joe Coppus, age 84 of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on November 22, 2014. Joe was born March 5, 1930 in Little Chute, son of the late Frank and Bertha (DeWildt) Coppus. Joe was a 1949 graduate of St. John's High School in Little Chute, and married Helen Mischler on May 13, 1952 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. The couple enjoyed forty-four years of marriage until Helen's death in 1997.

      Joe enjoyed going to his Chute Pond Cottage, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a prayerful member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. He had been employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for forty years, retiring in 1989. He was also proud to have served in Company D of the 127th Infantry of the Wisconsin National Guard.

      Joe is survived by his four loving children: Gerald (Nancy) Coppus of Freedom; Mary (Leon) Fuerst of Little Chute; Nancy Hartl of Kaukauna; and Jean (George) Wollenberg of DePere; seven grandchildren: Jenny (special friend Jake) Fuerst, Kyle (Nicole) Fuerst, Jason (Julie) Hartl, Scott (Holly) Hartl, Sarah (Len) Fleming, Tammy (Adam) Forrest, and Tanya Wollenberg; twelve great-grandchildren: Mason, Brooklynn, Autumn, Caylee, Trevor, Aiden, Katelin, Annaliese, Levi, Hailey, Helen, and William. He is also survived by a sister: Theresa Hooyman of Greenville; as well as Helen's family members: Bob Mischler, Betty Mischler, Delores Mischler, Joyce (Phil) Bruecker, Carol Thiele, Marilyn (Don) Kavanaugh, Louis (Ellen) Mischler, and Paul (Catherine) Reichel. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and godchildren.

      Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, a brother: Clarence (Rachel) Coppus; a sister-in-law: Irene Mischler; brothers-in-law: Bob Hooyman, Peter Mischler, Ervin Mischler, Roger Thiele, and Ben Mischler; Helen's parents: Louis and Irene Mischler, and her step-mother: Agnes.

      The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST FRANCIS CHURCH, on 433 Highway CE in Hollandtown, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends are invited to join the family at church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Joe's name. Online condolences may be offered at ww.wichmannfargo.com.
