Age 87, died Wednesday January 24, 1996 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born May 20, 1908 in Freedom, the son of the late Matt and Elizabeth (Gerrits) Weyenberg. John married Harriet Langenhuizen on July 18, 1935 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 1995. He had been employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper for 42 years, retiring in 1971. During his retirement, he and Harriet enjoyed traveling, playing cards and visiting with people. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Quarter Century Club of Thilmany, and the Golden Agers.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet; four sons and daughters in-law; James and Barbara (Wodjenski) Weyenberg, Kaukauna; Dennis and Janet (Busse) Weyenberg, Clintonville; Leroy and Judy (Andrews) Weyenberg, Canon City, Col; Neil and Mary Ellen (Ehert) Weyenberg, Lomita, Ca; nine grandchildren; Amy (James) Pitz, Karen (Curt) Beutler, Sarah (Joe) Buchberger, Wendy (Dennis) Bodway, Sherry Dreier, Dawn (Pup) Loughrin, Katie (Mark) Parker, Brian (Amie) Weyenberg, and Amanda Weyenberg; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Simon, Little Chute. He is further survived by his wifes two sisters and four brothers; Ann Stevenson, Kimberly; Bertha (Kenneth) Hooyman, Appleton; George (Illa Mae) Langenhuizen, Kimberly; John (Gertrude) Langenhuizen, Arizona; Harry (Dorothy) Langenhuizen, Arizona; Charles (Beverly) Langenhuizen, Watertown.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Laura (Arthur) DeWildt; a brother, Raymond (Esther) Weyenberg; a brother in-law, Art Simon; his wifes two sisters; Jean (Stanley) Hooyman, Frances (Elmer) Delfosse; a brother in-law, Elwood Stevenson.
The funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kaukauna with Father Robert Udulutsch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 W. 7th St. Kaukauna from 9:30 AM on Friday until time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
