John Van Beek Dead At 76; Rites Wed. At Holy Name Church
John M. Van Beek of 238 S. Birch St., Kimberly, died Monday, September 4, 1995, after a short illness, he was 76. Born December 3, 1918, in Kimberly, he was the son of the late Marinus and Nellie [Williams] Van Beek. Mr. van Beek had worked for and retired from Kimberly-Clark Corportion. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, an avid muskie fisherman, he also enjoyed bingo and watching high school sports. He was a lifetime member of Holy Name Catholic Church, William Verhagen American Legion Post No. 60 of Kimberly, Kimberly Clark Quarter Century Club and the Papermakers Booster Club.
Survivors include his wife, Katie [De Leeuw] Van Beek; two sons and daughters in-law, George and Laurie, Mike and Cindy, all of Darboy; a stepson and daughter in-law, Mike and Pam Hoppe of Columbia City, Indiana; a daughter and son in-law, Sandi and Jerry lamers of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a stepdaughter and son in-law, Pat and Cliff Janssen of Little Chute; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three brothers and sisters in-law, Peter and Pat of Appleton, Marty and Sally of Kimberly, and Dick and Gloria of Marietta, Georgia; two sisters and a brother in-law, Frances Kerkoff of Santa Rosa, California, and Pauline and Ralph Pleier of Kimberly; and numerous nieces, nephews, others relatives and many dear friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; a brother, Benjamin; and a sister, Mary Ann.The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly, with the Rev. David Pleier officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, frome 4-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, and after 10: a.m. on thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church until the time of mass. there will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. this evening. American Legion Post No. 60 of Kimberly rites of burial will be held Thursday immediately following the mass at church.
